NORWALK, Conn., July 6, 2006 - Shoppers Advantage delivered lower prices on a range of its top brand name consumer products nine out of 10 times when compared with such online retailers as Amazon.com, Best Buy, Circuit City, Crutchfield, Costco, J&R Music World, Sears Home Centers, Sports Authority, Target, Toys R Us and Wal-Mart, the membership-based online shopping company said today. Shoppers Advantage based the claim on its price comparisons of nearly 350 retail products in the second quarter of 2006.
The price comparison index measures costs on such product categories as home furnishings, tools, car stereo, TV and video, telephones, sports and exercise, appliances, computer hardware, cameras and optics and home stereo.
"Our track record continues, as we deliver lower prices on a full range of merchandise, offering the best prices to consumers more than 90 percent of the time in our latest quarterly survey," said Michael Lombardo, director of Shoppers Advantage. "Our price index is based on the actual fully-delivered price that consumers pay, including all shipping and handling, but excluding membership fees and sales tax."
As part of its comprehensive comparison of retail shopping prices, Shoppers Advantage compiles a Shoppers Advantage Shoppers Price Index that compares average prices on numerous retail products.
